Off To The Ball

After my day of pattern making and avoiding my ironing, (I did get some done) I sat down and flicked through some magazines and came across an article on "The Little Black Dress" that is a must have in any girls wardrobe. It gave me an idea for another pattern so I got to play again!

Now this is not quite the little black dress that everyone would have in their wardrobe but it was an obvious design for a card.

I have used Basic Black to the dress and Whisper White for the lining. The hem line has been punched with the eyelet border punch. It may be difficult to see in the photo but I stamped the Polka Dot background with Versamark and used Clear Embossing Powder to give the appearance of patterned fabric. A little bit of Whisper White Taffeta ribbon and you can't have the ball gown without bling so I added a Rhinestone brad and flower from the Pretties Kit to dress it up.

This is another project without much stamping but now my mind is racing as to what other patterns I can come up with.

Waterfall Favourite

My youngest son's 11th birthday was last weekend and one of his favourite cards that I make is the Waterfall card so I thought I would make him one.

I was true to form and made this late at night the night before his birthday.

A tradition in our family is that you get breakfast in bed for your birthday and we all sit around and share the breakfast and do presents.

Kye started his toast and then opened his cards. As you can see this has a lovely buttery finger print on the front of the card. He felt bad that he had done it so I will have to put a star over it to fix it up.

I have used Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White card and Real Red ink. I stamped the red background with the Sanded background and versamark. The letters are from the Schoolbook Serif Alphaber and the greeting is from the Starring You set on page 141.

The pull down flap has a Round Tab punch attached with eyelets which also attach the horizontal strip on the main card. The stars are the small Star punch.

These are great interactive cards that children love.

Trifold Wonder

I am often coming across some very talented peoples blog sites and I see some amazing creations. Last night I found this wonderful site (Bonnie) and amongst her many fabulous cards I saw a trifold card which inspired me. Today I was faced with housework or having a "play" day and quess what won out!!! I set about making this card not realising that it was going to engross me for almost 2 hours.

I fiddled with different papers and stamp sets and finally settled on my new Petal Pizzaz set. I then struggled with what words to use and after thinking who would I want to give this card to that I had turned into such a labour of love and realised it had to be a friend card so used the Wonderful Favourites set.

I am not usually an Orangy person but I love the freshness of Tangerine Tango and it goes really well with Kiwi Kiss. I have fallen in love with all the new In Colours as I knew I would eventually.

The papers are from the Haiku Designer Series papers. I also used a brad from the Fire Rhinestones and the 1", 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches. The card base is Basic Black and there are small amounts of Very Vanilla.

I did have fun making it and Bonnie has very kindly put instructions on her blog site. I am sure that the next one won't take anywhere near as long to make and I don't know if I will ever part with this one but I will do another as they are really effective. Have a go if you are game.
