Class Card Catchup

Well my plan to keep my postings up to date at the beginning of last term didn't last very long but at least I had good intentions.  I won't make any rash statements for this term but hopefully I won't get too far behind.

As there are so many cards to catch up on, I won't put all the details of each one, but if you would like any further information on any of these, please feel free to contact me and I would be only to happy to help.

Once again my photography isn't too crash hot so some of these cards look much better in "real life".

This first card was made from Shimmer White which is definately one of my new favourites.  I love a white card and this just gives a little bit of class with the slight shimmer.  The stamp set is Oh Hello which didn't grab me at first but I have grown to like it.  There is more from this set coming up.  The colours are Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo.  I will miss these two colours when they retire!  the words are from Blooming With Kindess.

I have wanted to do an Awning card for so long and finally got around to doing one.  It is such a cute idea and you can make a 'store front' for so many different stamp sets.  The colours are Pool Party, Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade.  The stamp set is Happy Hour.

This card looks so much better when you are actually looking at it.  This photo really doesn't do it any justice.  The card is Cherry Cobbler, Shimmer White and Sahara Sand.  The stamp is from Lacy & Lovely which is a set I have only just bought and I am wondering what took me so long to notice it.  I mixed Irridescent Ice and Cherry Cobbler embossing powders together to get some sparkle and it looks gorgeous.  This is a very quick and simple card but looks quite striking.  You will have to trust me on that one due to my lacking photography skills

Sadly this is another card that really does look so much better than it does in the photo. I used Shimmer White and Sahara Sand.  The stamps are from Lacy & Lovely and the embossing folder is Elegant Lines.  Add a few pearls and another quick card done!

This card used the lovely Pool Party Core-dinations card stock from the current Mini.  The paper is from the In Colour DSP paper stack.  The words are from Petite Pairs and the flowers were made using the scallop circle punch.  We used the Labels Collection Framelits dies.  The 1 1/4" scallop circle punch is perfect for making card size flowers and it has been carried over into the current Mini catalogue.

This is one of my favourite cards that we make last term.  Black and white cards always look striking.  This one has used Basic Black and Shimmer White - told you it was my new favourite!  The stamps are from Secret Garden and Summer Silhouettes and we used the Secret Garden Framelits Dies to cut the flowers. The embossing folder used was the Fancy Fan which is just so cute.   Add a little pearl and finished!

This card loses some of its appeal in the photo but the rustic look of the Neutrals White is so effective.  French Foliage is one of my favourite stamp sets and I have seen that it is on the US retirement list that has just been released and I am so disappointed.  I am hoping that we dont' lose it!
The colours are Cherry Cobbler even though it looks like an orange colour in this, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.  An antique brad, bit of ribbon and some paper piercing and another quick and simple card.

I had a request for the Chalk Board technique so here it is.  It sounds so technical but it really is very simple.  We used Craft White ink on a tissue and rubbed it over Basic Black card stock.  Really, how simple is that.  It is a little difficult to see the full effect from this angle but I created a little "shelf" that the cupcake is sitting on.  After all, blackboards at school had a little shelf for the duster and chalk to sit on.

Now where did I get the zig zag stamp from?   It isn't actually a stamp but the simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate from the Mini Catalogue.   I masked off one of the lines and used it as a template to sponge over.  I wanted to show a different way to use the Plate other than just an embossing plate.  The colours are Summer Starfruit and Rasberry Ripple.  The punch is Petite Pennants Builder and the stamps are from Pennant Parade.

This card is a great way of using up scrap pieces of patterned paper.  The colours  re Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder.  The papers are from the In Colour DSP pack.  The stamp is from Tiny Tags and we used the Jewelry Tag punch.  The leaves are from the Bird Builder punch.  The flower is made using the 1 3/4" and 1 1/4" scallop circle punches.  Add a pearl and finsihed.

Here is Oh, Hello again.  We had a week of quick, simple cards and this was one of them.  The card is Rasberry Ripple and the words are from A Word For You. The flower is made from the 7/8 scallop circle punch that was in the Sale-a-bration cataloge.  Add a bit of paper piercing that actually lifted this card from being very ordinary to looking a little special.  Bling always helps lift a card and done.  This really is a quick card.

This was another of the quick cards.  Shimmer White again! and Basic Black.  The gorgeous flower is from Blooming With Kindess and we embossed it using White embossing powder.  The circle is cut using the 3" circle die for the Big Shot and the ribbon is the White Organza ribbon.

I made these 3 cards to show that you can use the same layout with different colours and change a few simple embellishments and you get a different look.  We didn't actually make these ones in class.

Well that is last term caught up!  Phew, it really is much easier to post more often so my apologies for the over load.  Once again, I am happy to give you more details on any of these if you want to know anything in particular.

Lets see how long it takes me to get this weeks cards posted after my last class for the week on Friday.  Thanks for taking the time to look over my blog and don't be afraid to leave some feedback, I love to hear from you!!!

Colour Refresh

Stampin' Up! has announced that they will be refreshing their colour range in the new Catalogue released in July! You will recognise a lot of the colours as they are returning from previous years.  Some are colours that were released in the US but not in Australia so it will be exciting to see these for the first time.

If there are any products that you think you need to stock up on before they go, I would suggest that you order them quickly.  In the past, retiring colour products have sold out very quickly so don't miss out!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on some of the new colours and will have samples as soon as I can.

Take a look at this video showing you the complete new colour ranges.

Beyond Plaid

I normally have a lot of trouble creating male cards but this is the second week this term we have made cards for the men in our lives.  The new Beyond Plaid and Dapper Dad stamp sets from the current Mini are great for mens projects but we did do one girly card using the Beyond Plaid just to show that it is versatile.

This first card was created using Beyond Plaid in various colours. We used Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede.  The words are from Memorable Moments cut out with the Ovals Framelits Dies and mounted on a Decorative Label Punch shape.  I had a bit of a facination with the Paper Piercing tool this week and each card has some paper piercing in it.  I think I might have over done it a little for one week!

I wanted to show that you can use the Beyond Plaid set for both Male and Female cards.  I did see a card similar to this when I was trawling the internet one night but I didn't save a reference to it so for whoever sparked off this creation, thanks for the inspiration.  If I come across the site again, I will come back and make and acknowlegement.  The card is done in Rose Red and Whisper White.  The hearts are from the Hearts a Flutter and Hearts Collection Dies and the words are from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  A gemstone just adds to the girly bling look.

Teh bow tie is my favourite stamp from the Dapper Dad set but I am looking forward to using the shoe and watch to see what I can do with them.  We stuck with the same colour scheme of Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Not Quite Navy and Whisper White.  The printed paper is from the Neutrals DSP pack and a little paper piercing to finish it off.  It is very difficult to see in the photo but the middle tie has a little silver brad in the knot as a tie pin.

Not sure what I have in mind for next weeks class but it might be time to go girly!

Secret Garden & Summer Silhouettes

The new mini has lots of goodies that I just had to have in it.  One of the great new "bundles" was the Secret Garden bundle.  Not only do you get a stamp set but you also get the dies to match at a discounted price!  I just love all the new dies.  If you can't have a punch for every shape, the next best thing is a die to do the cutting for you - there should be more!!!

All the cards this week were done in Shimmer White cardstock.  This one used some Pool Party DSP.  We stamped the flowers with Pool Party.  We cut out a flower from the front panel of the card and then stuck it to the inside of the card giving a window effect.  The other two flowers were raised up with dimensionals and pearls added to all the flower centres.  Simple card but better in real life.

This was our second card done with the same Secret Garden flower.  Firstly, we stamped the flower onto the card in Pink Pirouette.  We then stamped them onto watercolour paper in Rasberry Ripple and watercoloured them.  The little flowers are from the Flower Trim ribbon on page 5 of the Mini and the words are from Bloomin With Kindness.

This card used the Summer Silhouettes set.  The words are from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  The colours are Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade.

All three cards were very quick and simple to make but looked like a bit of effort had been put into them.

Dressed For Valentines

One of the things from the new Mini that I had to have was the All Dressed Up Bundle.  It comes with a stamp set and Framelit Dies to compliment.  We only used the dies for this card and I can't wait to experiment with different styles.  The colour combo for this card is basic black, cherry cobbler and very vanilla.  The paper is from one of the DSP Stacks, with some basic pearls to dress it up.  We used the Stripes Embossing Folder on the vanilla layer but sadly it doesn't show up in the photo very clearly.

As it was getting very near to Valentines Day we had to be prepared.  Not everyone has a Valentine or wanted to do anything specific so I tried to keep our projects a little neutral so they could be used for other events.

This little gift box was made from the purse die.  You cut 4 of them and with a few little alterations, stick them together and this is what you are left with.  Cute!  We used the Hearts A Flutter Dies, a bit of DSP, a tag and a little bling and it could be used for anyone!

The new Mini has 3 new colours in the Core'dinations Card Stock.  We used the Pool Party for this card with Island Indigo and Very Vanilla.  The Honeycombe Embossing folder is also from the new mini and is just so striking.  The words are from the Vintage Verses Sale-a-bration set done on a tag from the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  The little hearts are from the Owl punch and the DSP is from the In Colour DSP Pack.

A Little Treat Jar

Every year a group of friends go away for a wonderful weekend at Somersby.  A very good friend of ours parents have a small property there and it is always such a lovely getaway.  We have been going there for about 12 years now and we always come home so relaxed and not wanting to eat for a few days as there is always far too much food.
I like to give a gift of something handmade each year as a small token of our appreciation for such a fantastic weekend.  This year, I did a jar that I got at Woollies and filled it with Choccies.  I covered it with a strip of Rose Red cardstock that was embossed with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.  The ribbon is the two tone, Pink Pirouette/Rose Red from the new mini. The tag is done with a combination of punches and Big Shot dies and the little flower is the gorgeous Flower Trim ribbon from the new mini.
I created the "Gerbera" oon the lid using a die that sadly didn't come to Australia but I was lucky  enough to be given one.  There are many layers to create the look but you could do something similar with any of the flower big shot dies.  Under the flower is the Scallop Circle Bigz Die and a button from the brights collection.
This really turned out to be more of a pressy for the lady of the house as it is quite girly but I was really pleased with how it turned out and she absolutely loved it!
